Re: New Bosch plugs

Since this thread refuses to die and includes a lot of "platinum plug" bashing
let us not forget that the o.e. plugs for the 20v turbo motor are the F5DPOR
Bosch Platinums (super expensive but were 10 bux each on special from TPC a
couple weeks back). I recall some time back these were suggested as "the way
to go" for high boost applications (Scott J.?).

Anyway, I am running them presently and they replaced a fairly new set of
Bosch tri-electrodes and there is a noticable difference under all conditions
in my car; smoother idle, quicker starts, better "feel" when at full boost,
etc. To use these on the 10v turbo you do need to trim away the lower 1/2" or
so of the plug connector shroud, so going back will (well, should) require a
new plug wire set. You also need a "peanut plug" socket as they are smaller
than standard spark plugs. One must remove the connector from the threaded end
of these plugs (which is kinda a PITA cuz it seems to be locktight'ed on) to
get the o.e. plug connectors to fit.

I am told (and recall from my 911 days when I used these...but thank you Gross
for reminding me) that when they wear, they wear up into the insulator so
visual inspection isn't always the best way to determine condition of bad
ones.

What are others thoughts and experiences running these? I know most, if not
all, you 20v turbo folks prolly use 'em. Anyone else with a 10v turbo done an
a/b test from the tri-electrodes to these and experienced an improvement?
