Re: The head on my '87 5ktqw is off. now what?

Rod,

I just did this job a few weeks ago on my '865ktq. I assembled the whole
package (except for the camshaft) and torqued everything to specs. Then I
used a cum-along hand winch to carefully lower the whole thing into place.
This is a two man job with one person controlling the winch and one steering
the head. I thought that it went VERY well doing it this way (kudos to this
group). Be sure to spend some extra time scraping and cleaning the block
mating surfaces to assure a good head gasket seal. I personally would
recommend the use of a Threadlock type product on the head bolts. After the
head is on and tight check your positions for the crankshaft and then install
the camshaft.
