Re: audi official le mans statement

Dave thanks for the info..... So does anyone know if the R8 is going to be
quattro?
The pictures look good, though I think that it needs a enclosed cockpit.
Though that may just be me. I showed the pictures to my dad and now he is
all excited about going to Le Mans this year.
Hmmm I'm there as long as he pays for my hotel room!!! ;]

Next year Audi will be taking up one of the greatest challenges in the world
of international motorsport: Audi will be taking part in the legendary Le
Mans 24-Hour Race for the first time with at least two newly developed
sports cars.

The open-top sports cars, which are being developed by Audi Sport under the
project codename "R 8", are being entered by Reinhold Joest's team, which
has already captured four wins in Le Mans. This classic long distance race,
first held in 1923, has recently gained in prestige through the involvement
of many renowned manufacturers. Year after year Le Mans attracts over 200
000 spectators. Taking part in Le Mans represents a major step up for Audi
in the world of motor sport. The pre-qualification for Le Mans starts on
mai 2, the race itself on June 12 and 13 1999.
