RE: audi official le mans statement
a few points:
1) the audi is a "sports car" this requires rwd and open top. awd is
banned, and closed top is for the gt1/gt2 classes.
2) it is clearly still in development, although it contains some interesting
points:
- air intake looks like one of the side ducts. obviously drag has been
minimised with the decision to do away with overhead air intake.
- rear body looks quite interesting. not exactly longtail m-b or mclaren,
but it probably wouldn't need to be with the more efficient body. clearly a
body optimised for the muslanne...
- front bodywork is extremely interesting. the cooling solution and cockpit
surrounds look quite unique, while the wheel surrounds and side have a
certain 'southgate' influence.
no idea of the engine config, or the tyres.
certainly if audi can design and build and beat the williams/bmw which has
an extra year of development (after it's debut debacle at le mans this
year), that would bea real coup. wouldn't bet on it though.
