Not surprised...my understanding is these are to be avoided like the plague.

I got the set I have from Blau when he was offering them on sale for $14.95
each. Since then I have seen them advertised on a "weekly special" at The
Parts Connection (thepartsconnection.com) for $10.00 :(
The Bosch number is F5DPOR and AFAIK they are the o.e. Audi plug in all the
20v turbo cars (91 200q, S4, and S6).
You do not need a new plug wire set to change to them, just to go back to
"standard size" plugs since you will be "trimming" the stock plug connector
ends.
These are "peanut plugs" which take a smaller socket (presumably to fit
between the two valve trains on the twin-cam motors) so make sure you get the
correct size socket too.
If you have stock Audi plug connectors, look at the ends. You will see a
sheetmetal shield that is actually four pieces of metal. If you just grab the
last 1/2" or so with pliers and bend back and forth, that last 1/2" or so will
break off. Do this times four on each plug connector. That will enable the
stock connector to seat against the new (shorter) plugs and provide shielding
(almost) to the head.
The plugs themselves come with the threaded-on connector ends threaded on with
lock-tight rather than floating loose in the box like most plugs. You will
need to unscrew these with pliers as the stock Audi plug connectors grip the
bare threads. They are tight since they are thread locked.

Yes, always have before. Made this switch from a near new set of tri-
electrodes and there was a noticeable difference in my car, especially at max
(1.8 bar) boost...YMMV.

On this subject, is there a NGK equivalent for the F5DPOR? I recall there was
for the Porsche version of this plug but that was a standard size plug (at
least in the two 911s I had it was). Just curious...I recall the NGK being
just as good and less expensive.
