Way too high? More like insane. You can buy a running
daily commuter for that kind of money. The latest parts car
I bought (a 1985 5KS) was in pristine condition (or
as some listers would say MINT) with a blown
differential. It didn't interest me to fix
because it is an automatic (tranny rebuilt less
than a year ago). I bought the car for $70, and
I only paid that much because it came with a
detachable face Sony Cassette deck and four fairly
new tires.

Lots of things are very different. The 84 has
a different style/location window/mirror switches.
On the '84 they are mounted in the center of the
console, the switch plugs on the harness are all
different also. Interior trim has lots of small
differences. Radiator fan motor is much
smaller on the '84, Climate control may
be a different style too. Brakes, the
'84 has rear drums. Outside trim, bumper trim,
chrome etc. are all unique to the '84.
But, the important parts, such as window regulators,
blower motor control units, hydraulics, alt. instrument
cluster, fusebox etc. should all be the same.

>From the descrition you gave of the car, I wouldn't
offer the guy more than $20. He'll have to pay someone
to haul it away otherwise. Unless of course you're
in dire need of an expensive dealer-only item that
has been recently replaced on the parts car, then
it's whatever it's worth to you...
