Sounds to me like there may be lots of little problems combining to give
you a headache. This is just what happened when I bought my UrQ two
years ago. Two years and most of my disposable income later it runs
great and has an entirely new suspension. You should count on lots of
little repairs to bring it up to a reliable level, lots of wiring and
connection cleanings, tuneup parts like cap and rotor, fuel filters,
maybe new injectors.

It sounds to me that one of your large intake hoses is ripped. You may
still register boost on the gauge but you may hear a rushing or whoosing
noise under full boost (depends on whether it's the suction or boost
side of the turbo) I'd check for rips in the hoses between the air
cleaner and the intake manifold. Good luck inspecting some of them,
especially the ribbed one and the back side of the intercooler to intake
manifold hose. HTH. And a major BTDT (been there done that). Good luck.
