Great advise Al. I was about to say the same thing. As a matter of
course, if the car will be supported by the factory jack for more than a
few seconds, I always slide in a wheel under the car and lower the car
so that there is minimum clearance between the car and the wheel. If
the jack slides (or sinks!) the car will only fall an inch at the most,
minimizing damage or possible injuries. Also, it is very easy to put
the jack back in place and lift the car again. If a car falls on top of
the jack, you will have some fun trying to get another jack underneath.
