Not necessary, not "bad". My own thinking is this, if you have to clean
something that's blocking airflow from the INSIDE of your IC, you are doing
that after putting in your new motor. :)

What one is trying to accomplish is maximizing heat transfer. Removing oil
from the inside should help.
