Re: Don't Forget to clean this area out periodically

Mark;

    This pocket is a perennial problem on Type 44's. I check it annually for
debris and pluggage. I had such a problem with it on the left side of my '91
200q that I pulled the fenders. I found a large loose triangular chunk of
rubber in there plugging the drain holes on the left side - the right side
was OK. I cleaned things up, put on new undercoating, and haven't had a
problem since.
    In spite of the galvanizing, debris in here can result in corroded
fenders. The paint application on the inside of the Audi fenders is very
poor, so in some cases all you have is the galvanizing. Needless to say, the
inside of the fenders on my '91 200q are now as well painted as the outside!
