urq leaks...
The mushy substance found under the carpet may be from a bad drain from
the A/C condensor. This would be more than likely if it is found only on
the passenger side. Fix: pull back carpet under glovebox and inspect
drain plug, insure the pan is overlapping the rubber grommet, also check
the drain tube itself for blockage.
As far as replacement sound matt...you could just use regular carpet
padding. BUT! the best material I have found is a sound deadening matt
made by Stinger. It is approximately 1/2 inch thick with a thick
rubberish foam on one side slowly making a transition into a heavy
rubber on the other. Cut this stuff to fit with the foam side down and
you will be amazed at how well it absorbs noise!. Almost all vibration
transfer is eliminated and most road noise. Although, I have dynamatted
everything else and the URQ will inherently have excess wind noise due
to the window design.
This matt can be found at most stereo shops (probably needs to be
ordered). Highly recommended although expensive. I can tell you cost is
approx. $75 but retail will probably be almost double that. It comes in
a rather large sheet enough to do the coupe's entire floor.
If enough people are interested I may be able to arrange a group
purchase on this and dynamatt or maybe just a q-list discount on
stereo/video and car audio components. Interested?
