CGT/4K nut for ball joint clamp?
Does a chart exist that lists various grades of nuts/bolts versus what
torque they can hold?
Does anyone know the correct grade for the nuts that attach to the ball
joint clamp on the front suspension of a CGT?
The clamp studs are grade 10.9, but the only locking nuts I can find are
generic (I cannot determine the grade) metric locking nuts. I have
a problem where my ball joint nuts cannot hold the 47lbs.-ft of
torque specified by the Bentley...they keep stripping. I am not
sure if the nuts are the problem, or my torque wrench is the culprit.
If the nuts are special 10.9 grade locking nuts, then I will grab some
from the dealer. If not (and if the generic M10 nuts should be able
to withstand 47lbs.-ft of torque easily), I'll check out my torque
wrench.
Thanks,
Eric
