NOT for the 5 speed. We're talking about the 5 speed here.
It's a VERY different car, and I have been looking for one
also, have yet to see one in any kind of decent shape for
less than $15K.
The worse "black hole" in terms of the V8Q is the ZF
auto transmission. Problems with it can be fixed
relatively inexpensivly IF you have the time and
inclination, BTDT, but most owners don't, and the
auto-box can get VERY expensive should it fail. As
with ANY Audi. I would personally NEVER own another
Audi with an Automatic, as this is a expensive weak point
in ALL models so equiped.
PLEASE forward any of these ads for cheap 5spd. V8Q's to the
list, as I have been looking for quite a while and have
yet to come across one. I've also noticed the two
owners of V8Q sticks I've met around here (Boston area)
also happen to own an independent repair shop and a
body shop. I agree with them 100%, you can't beat the
bang per buck you get with the V8Q, especially the 5spd.
It's like driving a totally different car compared to the
Automatic. But then again, based on interchangeability of
parts, it IS almost a totally different car.
