90 series power locks / Seat bolster replacement
I recently purchased a 1990 90q 20v and have a couple of questions about
the power locks and the possibility of replacing/repairing a seat
bolster.
The locks: The power locks work fine, except for the trunk mechanism.
As I understand the operation, the lockset has three positions. 12/6
should keep the trunk locked regardless of the operation of the
doorlocks. 9/3 should operate the trunk lock in conjunction with the
doorlocks ie. doors unlocked, trunk unlocked . 1/7 opens the trunk
regardless of the position of the door locks, however this position only
works when the key is in the lock and turned to position.
When to power locks are activated [to either lock or unlock] there is
the normal vacum sound and then somewhere in the vicinity of the trunk
lock there is a moderatly loud clunk. The 9/3 position keeps the trunk
locked as does the 12/6 position and the only way to open it is with the
key at the 1/7 position. Does this problem sound familiar to anyone??
An easy fix, or live with it? Any BTDT's appreciated.
The car has cloth sport seats. Unusual for this model I think. It's
the only one that I have ever seen without leather. The drivers seat
left side bolster on the seat part [not the back] has split through the
foam and you can feel the steel rail under the cloth. for a large guy
such as myself, this can be uncomfortable. What isthe best way to go
about a fix?
TIA.
