That's what I've heard too. Here in Norway, all cars sold after
01.01.1989 has got catalyzers. The older cars do not have catalyzer.
For some cars, the catalyzer caused a drop in effect. As an example,
the Peugeot 505 V6 dropped from 160 hp to 140 hp.
In addition, the NA I5 engine was sold in several versions during the
mid/late 80s:
- 136/138 hp 2.2 injection (5kS etc.)
- 115 hp 2.2 injection (VW Quantum)
- 115 hp 2.0 injection (88-91 Audi 100)
- 115 hp 2.2 carburator (78-82 5kS)
The old 100 (5k) from 78-82 with I5-engines was offered in these
versions:
- 5D (70 hp diesel)
- 5S (115 hp carburator)
- 5E (138 hp injection)
- 5T (170 hp turbo injection)
In addition comes some I4 carburator engines..
I remember the model program this way - corrections are welcome!
My parents had a '81 Audi 100 5E GLS - that car was so long that the
garage door didn't close completely when the car was parked, it just
rested on the trailer hitch.

Ok.. What are the advantages of hydraulic lifters?
