i got pulled over by chp, xmas night 1996. i was just
south of king city on 101, doing 105mph. he let me go
	with a warning.

totally. i believe i impressed the officer in a few ways:
	- hands on e wheel, passengers hands on his lap as he
	  approached us.
	- used "sir" a lot, direct answers, all documentation
	  in order and handy.
	- no attitude except respect, admitting guilt.
	- asking permission to move, such as reaching for my wallet.

imo a lot of this stuff is important. officers are most
frequently killed when dealing with traffic stops - keeping
you hands visible from the get-go seems to really be
appreciated. i don't know if that was why i got only a
wanring for what could be a pretty serious offense - though
traffic was nearly nonexistant and i wasn't driving recklessly,
just fast. apparently he wasn't even pissed at the shiny new
	radar detector on the windshield.
