Steve;
I made up a tester for the check valve out of a piece of fuel
distributor feed line (complete with banjo fitting for attachement to the
fuel filter) scavenged from a wreck and a CTC fuel pressure guage. Unbolt
the fuel line at the discharge end of the fuel filter ( a spray of fuel
which shoots across the engine bay is a sign that the check valve may be OK,
so caution is required here :o), bolt up the test guage, run the fuel pump
for 20-30 seconds, and monitor the pressure drop. The Bentley gives the
actual figures - something like 3 psig in 5 minutes is allowable. I spotted
a couple bad check valves on my '86 5ktq with this setup.
The '91 200q actually has two check valves - one on the pump, and one in
the housing in the tank opening.
