Peter- I take it that you can not raise the window from either the door switch
or the drivers control. First, remove the door switch and  jumper 12 volts to
see if the motor is ok. If it is, jumper 12v to the switch and repeat. If this
works, you may have a problem with the wiring between the drivers door and the
rest of the car. There are several ways to repair this problem. You can remove
the harness and effect repair with room to work or if you are
ambidextorus(sp?) you can just peel back the rubber boot and splice in a new
piece(s) of wire. Solder, and use heat shrink. HTH
