I assume you've still got the OEM rear speakers... These do contain their
own amplifiers, which have a tendency to short themselves out. The problem
seems to be that the PCB is too close to the metal enclosure, and after
enough bumping around some of the pins touch the enclosure.

The fix is fairly straight forward: remove the speaker, disassemble, trim
leads on bottom of PCB, make cardboard insert to insulate PCB from enclosure,
reassemble.
