Help Listers!

Fellow listers..I am having 2 problems w/ my 1990 80 q that I would like 
to get settled before winter sets in.

1)My coolant fan is not coming on till the temp guage is around the 3/4 
range on the display..I changed the Temp Sensor (with one from a 4cyl 
90)located at the bottom of the radiator w/ an electrical connector that 
looks like a boot w/ 2 wires..Well, it still gets hot..When driving at 
high speeds the car stays at normal operating temp.I thoroughly sprayed 
the radiator down to get all debris that may be blocking free air 
flow-what next?.Where do i go from here? Is there another sensor I 
should troubleshoot? It just seems like the fan is not coming on quick 
enough..If possible, I would like the fan to come on as soon as need 
be..Please help, suggestions-thanx!

2)When I am driving I hear a clicking/ticking noise on the inside of 
vehicle. Sounds almost like a spring of some sort...It sounds like it is 
coming from either the dash display or maybe a relay underneath the dash 
drivers side...Any BTDT's? Please help as the Audi electrical gremlins 
are cornering me..!! This ticking noise drives me nuts! And no it is not 
a lifter chatter-I already solved that one for the time being...thanx in 
advance for any help list!
