V8 tranny fixed
Thanks
Thanks to all who responded for my cry for help on that V8 tranny part
problem.
Jaggi saved the day. We called them on Monday morning. He had
everything we needed. But he suggested we call Ericson Ind in Ct where we
are located. A lister mentioned Ericson also.
We are off exit 25 in Ct on I95, Ericson is off exit 62? We sent a driver
up for the part, had the tranny installed by the end of the day and drove
the car tuesday morning. Works great.
The list saved the day! The customer spent a bundle, about $2700 but
before you freak he also bought a new starter and ring gear and rear oil
seal assembly. That is about $1000 in parts, and I don't have to tell you
the there was alot of labor at $70 per hour. Still, it beats a whole
tranny.
Of note to V8 owners. This car had a miss about 50% of the time. At
3500rpm it was as if the car hit a rev limiter.
Before we pulled the tranny we had gone over everything, the 1551 told us
of an O2 sensor problem but that was all we got from that. At @$800 for a
wire set we passed on trying those.
The busted up teeth on the flywheel were the problem. The timing sensor
must have gotten fooled by what went by and at what speed. Once the car
had the new ring gear installed it ran like a dream.
So again thanks for a great source for parts.
