'93 S4 for sale, update

Got an e-mail from the owner thanking me for posting his car to the List. In
his response he added a few things about the car (including recent
maintenance) and what would need to be changed to have the car imported to
the US that may be of interest. Also, it looks as if the price has been
reduced to $12.9k. As before, I have no association with the seller, just
want to make sure someone on the List gets this car!

Brian,
I actually have a couple of questions about the car if you don't mind:
(1) Is the car a Canadian or US spec car? I notice you have the mileage
down in miles, not kms.
Canadian car. The web classified services insist on miles (and on US
dollars).

(2) Does the car have a passenger side airbag? ('93 S4's in the US have
both driver's and
passenger's side bags, may cause an importation problem)
Driver's side only. The letter from Audi clearly states this is enough for
import.

(3) Does the car have the carbon fibre trim instead of the wood trim like
US '93's?
Wood, "Canadian elm" it's called, actually, although I was unaware any elms
remained here after the Dutch Elm disease of the '50s.

As you mentioned, the weak Canadian dollar has caused an interest from many
Q-List members to look for Canadian vehicles at a substantial savings. If
your vehicle is a Canadian vehicle, probably the only thing that would need
to be replaced would be the speedo / odometer.
Actually, just the labeling of the speedo, i.e. the face. The odo is fine as
long as it says it's kms, and the brake warning light letters must be _at
least_ 1/8" high (I love bureaucratic regulations). That's it.
Well, good luck and hopefully
a quick sale!
Thanks again,
Brian
'93 S4 20V turbo (assault weapon, studly)
'90 90 20V sedan (pearly white beauty)
'91 Honda Civic (strict grocery duty)

previous:
'94 90 12V (sluggish, black, stubby)
'90 90 CQ 20V (much-ticketed, speedy)

(Below is the spiel I send to everyone who asks about the car)

I have the car's complete service history, and all receipts since 91,000
km/September 1996. It has required
nothing major, only regular wear items, timing belt done on time at 100,000
km, and front wheel
bearings. Recent work includes major tune up ($500), new tires (225-50ZR 16"
Dunlop SP 8000s all around, $1,200
worth), and (recently) oxygen sensor.

Has four winter Michelin tires on factory rims w/Audi covers (see photo).
There are also 16" five spoke alloys, with two
new Dunlop 8000 tires, and two which need replacing. The mileage has gone
over 180,000 kms now. It runs very smoothly and quickly, and consumes no oil
between changes. No accidents to my knowledge.

The basic specs: five- cylinder, 20 valve, intercooled turbo, 227 bhp, 258
lb-ft (same as current Porsche 911), 0-60mph in
6.2 secs (not quite like current Porsche 911...but close enough), climate
control, black on black leather, power heated sport
seats and heated mirrors with multiple memory settings which adjust to
separate remote keys, Audi 200/A6 body style with
projector lens front European headlights, ski sack, sunroof, killer 200 watt
Bose stereo pre-wired for CD player etc. etc.

There are some stone chips on the nose, two small dents in front right
quarter panel (icefall this past winter) scratches in
keeping with its usage but overall it is in good shape outside and excellent
shape inside. Stainless steel exhaust in fine shape.

Would make a tremendous project car for someone wanting to chip it (most
tuners claim +80 hp is easy with this motor),
upgrade the brakes (takes rotors and cylinders from Porsche 911, e.g.) and
wheels etc., you would have a world-beater for
very few bucks (the price of a Honda Accord?).

Currently asking CDN$17,500, or $US12,900. The real bottom line is I'm back
at school (Ph.D.) and the
daughter has started university and we have two other cars (incl. 1990 90
quattro 20V) so I want to place this fabulous, fast, safe, and powerful
beast in a good home. I don't have the time or cashflow right now to do it
justice. (When I am
working/teaching again, a used S6 will be my first purchase.)

Requires little (new speedo face) to federalize for US (I have the
information required from Audi to bring the car across the
border).

Call or reply by phone or e-mail if interested.
