Well, a new mechanic is certainly the right start. Doesn't the guy have any
pride? I know zero about the torque capabilities of his impact wrench, and
if it really was a 3/4" drive, then maybe it does generate very high torque.
But that bolt is spec'd at 330ft. lbs., and when removed by hand requires
(my exp. w/ sample of one, plus others anecdotally) a breaker bar with
(optimally) a 4 foot extension. It's a huge 12.9 spec bolt, thread-locked
at the factory, so I'd be pretty aggressive before worrying about breaking
it...
