Re: Engine BayTemp & Exhaust wraps
Doyt,
Thank you for your input about my temperature question. I deffinately saw
bright orange. And this was only from easy driving...guess I may have done
to good a job wrapping ? If anyone feels the need to try this stuff use
some thick safety wire and saftey wire pliers, it will not come off or
unravel, (although it is quite a hassel to install).
The more I think about it, the less I like this exhaust wrap stuff. The way
I see it, if all the heat stayed in / on the tube that would be fine, but I
imagine alot of this captured heat will find its way back into the head
where the manifold attaches. Fair amount of surface area...Burn some
exhaust valves...??? Anyway you want as much heat as possible pulled out of
the head, certainly not put in. This would probably be even worse on a turbo
car. The minor Hp gain probably isn't worth the possible down side...Get the
heat out of engine, even if its going into the engine bay. I just talked
myself into it, I think I'll be taking this off. I've had it on for
about a year...
And I probably spent 10+ hours putting it on !!
