UrQ brake bleeding
Help. Yesterday I tried to bleed the UrQ brakes after replacing the
front calipers. Here's what happened. I bled the pressure distributor,
fine. Then I bled the master cylinder. Nothing but air. Hhmmm. So I
decided to check the front calipers. Those bled fine. Back the
distributor, fine. Back to the MC, nothing but air. The rears were
giving nothing but air as well. Then I leveled the car and filled the
reservoir right to the top. Finally I could bleed the MC. Then I bled
the distributor. Then the right rear, nothing but air. For one hour I
got nothing but air. I was using a vacuum bleeder which has worked OK in
the part. It works well on the fronts and all the other places but I
can't get fluid from the rear. I used a lot of teflon tape on the
bleeder screws which seemed to help the air leaking past the screws.
The brakes work, they just require a little more effort and have a
little more pedal travel than they used to. This is the symptom of air
in the lines, as I remember from the past UrQ bleedings? Anyone have any
thoughts? Phil gets a special mention as yesterday he called me from
England to tell me to hold the brake pedal down when bleeding. Thanks a
lot Phil, I appreciated that help. Can someone tell me how to make a
pressure bleeder cap that I can use a bicycle pump to pressurize the
reservoir? HELP.
