Re: Installing new radiator in the 4kcsq, any tips?
Matt:
I did the radiator on my '86 4kcsq about a year ago. Tips? Obtain a
replacement bottom mounting "sandwich" (for lack of a better word - it
is a round rubber disk in the middle with threaded studs sticking out of
the top and bottom); mine disintegrated when I tried to remove it from
the old radiator. Obviously do all the hoses you can and the
thermostat; my overheating problem stemmed at least partially from
broken thermostat guts. The a/c radiator, which mounts in front of the
main radiator, slides into a couple of upward-opening brackets (think
"Easy Rider rifle rack") I spent a great deal of time unbolting those
brackets from the old radiator when I only needed to lift the a/c
radiator up and off. Enjoy.
