I asked a shop owner who does alot of ZF's in BMW's. He says this
happens on the ZF trannies when you try to put either the tranny or
the engine in with the torque converter improperly seated. It
pushes in on the pump and breaks the tabs off. He says the rebuilder
for the ZF units is in your neck of the woods, Conn., Erickson or maybe
Ericson was the name of the rebuilder. $10,000 tranny!?, oh yeah, you
did say it was a dealership. ;)
