Re: TQC problems
I apologize to the list for not mentioning this sooner... In response to
window regulators for the URQ's, it is possible to get later model
window regulators from the CGT's to work. The abundance and price of
these regulators made me look into making these work instead of
purchasing new ones.
The regulators are identical in track and mounting design. I know, I
know, the mount and design of the actual motor is different! The motor
is the same as the 5k's and is slightly shorter in lenght than the
original urq desin. The solution: make a template of the bolt design
onto a piece of paper, mount the regulator inside the door, feel behind
the panel to where the closest bolt will hit the back of the door panel
and pop a hole equal to the size of the stud, then align the template
with the first hole and make a real close estimate as to the location of
the other two holes and mark, then drill theother two holes. Apply some
paint to the fresh metal around the holes, finish the wiring, NOTE: the
motor may protrude far enough back as to make contact with the window in
operation, thus apply backward pressure on the inner door panel to bend
out (towards interior) slightly and test clearance.
I hope this helps and also note on the early urq's it is very common for
the actual switch itself to cause the motor to appear weak (try swapping
them to check).
This simple fix has saved me a lot of money and they work very well.
