RE: '86 Audi ???s

First of all you are looking at a twelve year old car. Expect to have
parts go bad and need to be replaced. All the rubber part are on their way
out. Next it depends on how well the car has been maintained. What parts
have recently been replaced?
Rotors
Brake pads
Starter
Drive shaft bearing
Ball joints
Tie rod ends
e-brake cables
headlight switch
battery
OX sensor
Plug wires
Cap & rotor
Do all the door handles work?
Do all the windows go up and down, from all switches?
Have the struts been replaced?
Has the timing belt been done?

90k miles is pretty low miles. So the car I would hope is in pretty good
shape. The can may need some of the listed part simply due to age. Many
can be fixed quick-n-dirty, cheap. Others will simply co$t. It really
depends on how much you can / are willing to do yourself.

If the car has been cared for it should be a reliable daily driver. I've
had my 4k for two years now put 54k on it. I love it! She has never let
me down. I'm in the process of rebuilding/re-buying the car. But then
again aren't we all?

Best Regards,
John

Subject: '86 Audi ???s

I'm looking at buying a '86 quattro 4000 with 90,000 miles. I've owned VWs
but never and Audi. I'm not very familiar with them and am interested in
any info anyone may have about realiability, service needs at 90,000 miles,
costly parts, things to watch for, etc.

Your input is much appreciated.
Thanks
