RE: Newbie to Quattro list - looking for info on 93 90S
First, let me direct you to info on my car:
http://131.107.68.28/a4.org/registry/details.asp?car=21 , that will have
some answers to your questions.
1) Your headlight, expect to pay over $200 for it. I kind of got lucky on
mine, I was quoted and shipped the wrong light. When I notified the place, I
found out that the correct light was over $100 more than the one I was
quoted. After they screwed up my order so bad, they compensated me by giving
me the light at the original quoted price - $125. I did find one place in
Colorado that would sell just the lens (which is all you really need, but
nobody sells), but I don't remember the name of the place. Sorry.
2) My car makes the same noise when turning left. I was told (by the list)
that this is the steering dampener (sp??) and there has been a TSB for it. I
personally havn't done anything about it. It seems worse in the cold. I
don't think it's anything to worry about, it's just noisy. If I'm wrong,
somebody please correct me so I can have it fixed!
3) I recently did the timing belt, serpentine belt, thermostat, water pump
and tensioners on my car. I don't recall the prices right now, but I can get
those to you when I get home. With parts and installation I paid under $800
for all of that.
For most large parts, I either by the parts from Clair Parts Express
(1-800-354-5100) or Carlsen Motors (1-800-523-2408, talk to Linda). Both are
priced about the same. Clair is the one that sent me the wrong headlight,
and they also sent me the wrong timing belt, but they always corrected their
mistakes and have left me happy. I know alot of people that have bought from
them and are extremly satisfied. I've never had a problem with Carlsen.
If you have any other questions, feel free to email me.
