    I assume from your post that you found the tranny oil was below the
level of the filler hole and you filled it up to be at the fill hole level.
The specified oil level for the 016 manual transmission in the Type 44 cars
is 7 mm below the level of the fill hole. The spec may be similar for your
car, so the mechanic may not be at fault.
    It is noted in the Bentley that it is acceptable to fill the tranny to
the level of the fill hole.
