Re: Re:climate control
Hi Graydon;
It's probably your temperature flap control system. Take off the plastic
plenum cover so you can see your heater box. On the right side of the box
there is a set of linkages driven by a cable. These linkages control the
position of the flaps in the heater box which in turn control the amount of
air which passes through the heater core and thus the amount of heat coming
from the unit.
With the car running and the engine warm, set the heat control to HI.
Note the position of the linkages. Then set the heat control to LO. The
linkages should move as the flaps change position. If they do not move,
either the control head is defective, or (more likely) the cable drive motor
has stripped.
The motor is located in the passenger cabin behind the glove box. These
motors often strip the drive - one clue is a tick, tick sound as the motor
tries to move the flaps.
Your control head should have a set of trouble codes you can read out -
I know the later control heads do. Check your Bentley (you DO have a
Bentley, don't you?) for the procedure - this may also shed some light on
the problem.
