Re: 90'CQ-Hyd Prsr Accmltr Prblms
My experience with changing the pressure accumulator recently in my '90 Q20V
sedan is similar. I had the red light on after starting the car and when
rapidly stepping on the brakes. I replaced the accumulator which fixed the
above problems, but after a couple of days there was this groaning noise
from the pump when turning and particularly when cold (<60 F). My pump was
also leaking significantly-I think it was leaking much more than before. I
had fluid leaking off the plastic tray under the engine and on the oil pan.
I could see the fluid leaking from the underside of the pump, but only by
loosening up the pump and moving it enough to see under it-things are really
tight there. I replaced the pump and the noise and leaking went away. I
never had pulsating brakes. Could that be a rotor that needs turning?
