Where's the relay?

Here's a little mystery.  I finally got tired of not being able to adjust
the outside mirrors on my 92 V8.  The (quite good) shop here traced through
the circuit and switch and said that the mirror memory control unit
(4A0907445A) was bad.  I bought the unit from Carlson and now we can't find
out where it goes.  The Audi tech line said that it's in location J-141, and
indicated that it was under the back seat.  No luck.  The fiche for an older
V8 showed it under the dash.  The shop guys have spent a couple of hours
hunting for it and have reached the point where they're reluctant to do
further disassembly without more information.

Can anyone help?
