Post-Thanksgiving Winter maintenance for the 100 S
I finally got around to doing some maintenance on 100S getting it ready for
the winter and I have some questions for the list:
1. Oil leak from the front seal (Again!) - 2 years ago when I joined the
list I an oil leak from the front seal. I had the seal replaced plus a new
T-belt and idler pulley installed by a Euro shop in Stoneridge, NY about
18-20 months ago. Well it looks like the leak is back. Assuming that I
didn't get another bad seal put in, are there any ideas out there for other
reasons for the leak? Its not that bad yet. I haven't been able to measure
the loss yet.
2. Transmission service - What does this entail for the automatic? I heard
change the fluid and clean the filter. Anything else?
3. Coolant change - The owners manual says to not change the coolant.
Anybody disagree with this and why? ( I live in New Hampshire now - so the
winter could get bad)
4. Transmission dipstick - Anybody got the part number and cost?
5. Recently had the majority of the car repainted due to an overspray
problem that I mentioned earlier. Now I need a really good coat of wax put
on in about 2 weeks once the new paint is good and hardened. St Laurent in
Nashua did an Ok job but I don't like the service (They broke the hood
sensor to the alarm but they wont admit or pay for it) Thanks Chris Newbold
for the advice. Anybody got any recommendations for a top quality detail
shop in Southern New Hampshire. I may just go to Ed Bryne's.
Anybody else got other recommendations for pre-winter service?
TIA
Tim
