I wouldn't say it works "just fine". My father owned one while I was in
high-school and even with the traction-control it was all over the road when
I'd floor it. This was not just from a dead stop, it would also happen if I
floored it at highway speed. As you may have guessed, I floored this car as
often as possible.
Audi content: The battery in my quattro is dead so I'm driving my brother's
86 Buick Regal V-8 for this week. 50K less miles than my quattro and about
50K more rattles and shakes. I actually have to think about keeping traction
on dry-pavement when driving this car, not something I'll miss. I love the
engine (Olds 307, same engine as my first car, 83 Riviera) but since owning
a quattro feel that anything with this much power deserves AWD. It just
seems so obvious. I guess my audi has spoiled me.
