RE: New Urq...

ok, so if it's true that audi will bring out a follow-on to the ur-q, (and
all i can say is "about time"), then what would we all like to see in one?

this is obviously a little difficult for those who haven't experienced the
ur-q, or those who have, but not with the series 2 & 3 euro cars...

here's my take:

1)	styling. basically leave it alone. smooth the front out and make it
more aggressive, tidy up the windscreen and install proper wipers. imo,
leave the back and sides alone. solve the wind noise problem and also the
door seal one.
2)	interior. complete re-make. proper dash with full climate air con
and modern ergonomics. n/s about the speedo. personally, i like the
digital dash, but would like analogue for all ancillaries. adjustable
(airbag) steering wheel, but leave the type of wheel and it's weighting
alone!
3)	ride and handling. leave them alone! perhaps they could improve
low-speed ride.
4)	engine. 300hp stock with the 20v's low-down grunt. tweaked tt v6?
alternatively the new 370hp s8 v8 would be nice, weight permitting. better
engine cooling required.
5)	transmission. 6 speed box and torsen from the s2/rs2 would be fine.
or better. (multiple haldex's?)
6)	wheels/tyres. i'd go for 17 or 18's. 225 rubber. maybe 235's.
7)	safety, go for the air-bags. 4-pot brakes.
8)	fully galvanised.
9)	weight to be kept below 1350kgs.
10)	price to be kept below 50k usd, 35k gbp.

so, in a nutshell, audi should modernise the 20v, but leave the essential
driving experience unaltered.

We differ. The flared arches are just somewhere to keep the wheels.

Personally, I'm keen on stealth - no rings on the doors for me. No
badges on the rear, either. It's hard to think about how the
ur-quattro
could be 'improved' much beyond the 20V - it already has too many
gizmos
for my liking, and the engine bay is a great improvement on the MB.

Tastes are very different - I would definitely _DEMAND_ an orange
digital dash. Zipping along at night with just the speed in large,
dim
	digits is very comfortable.
