RE: New Urq...

I can really see this becoming much more than a thread...The nur-q Design
Team...

Might be neat to set up a virtual site for configuring the beast. We'll
have to collaborate on knowns and understoods..and disputes (Torsen v
Haldex). But would be a great experiment.

Might help to come up with a set of givens:

(1) A4 chassis modifed, right? Does anyone have access to the chassis
specs and diagrams of the A4/Passat? We'd have to start mods from there.
(2) Current or projected motor? V6tt is definitely a candidate IMO, but
likely requiring significant tweaks for the euro market.
(3) Interior? I'd vote for current type passenger style dashes, rather
than design type found in TT/TTs.
(4) Body? Panel by panel. We know the urq cannot be duplicated. Will be
some pretty strong opinions here. Unquestionably, the urq is/was one of the
greatest utilitarian concepts of its time. Mine: The urq aesthetic is
dated, but can be made marketable. I would be concerned that the movement
towards aerodynamic fluidity will prevail (ala Jag XK8, Maserati, Bugatti,
456gt...too similar imho).

Funny thing is...of course we don't know diddley when it comes down to it.
The nur-q will NOT be like the ur-q because it ain't IT. The chassis will
be different. The body will be different. Ad infinitum. For example, we
couldn't expect to keep the same shape and "fix the wind noise problem." Or
change the chassis and "maintain the ride and handling characteristics."

Any graphic designers here want to set up a site with
- A4 chassis perspective(s) (Maybe even one is enough, but more than 3 is
burdensome)
- urq chassis perspective (for comparison)
- urq body with separate panels in same perspective(s)

My concept:
A web page with a few simple schematics (remember it's really just fun
design) that we could each go to, copy the graphic to our desktop, modify
and return to another file on the original site. This way, we could each
find things in one version that are appealing, copy and modify to our own
site. Of course, this would require a graphic manipulator standard
(photoshop or something more simple (free?) so that many could participate?

OK, I'll crawl back under the rock now.
