88 80q needs paint

Over the holiday weekend my black 88 80 q got keyed. So did everyone else on
the block that parked on the street that night.

I took it for an estimate today---- $2100--- 

Sounds like a lot of money to me ---- but anyway --

I would like to have the car painted pearl white instead. The body shop told
me that this would decrease the value of my car ! ?  I figure a 10 year old
car with over 100k on it couldn't possibly be worth the price of the paint job
to anyone but an Auiphile. 

Anyway, what are some things to look out for, or is going to white a really
really really bad idea ?

Body shop is very reputable, and has done great work for me in the past.

What year Audi has the brightest Pear White ? or is there a better quality
paint out there with a similar color ?

Any thought greatly appreciated.
