There are few ways to look at this.  If you plan on viewing your car as an
investment from which you want return, you should always stay with the
original color.  Body shops usually skip the undersides of the trunks,
hood, doors, jambs, and other areas.  If you are looking at the car as
merely transportation, then do whatever you want.  You have to live with
it.  As far as a ten year old car with 100k miles on it, it is worth
plenty and I should know--I own an 88 80 q, with 180K miles.  Many people
have wanted to buy it.
