. . . however, in the process of feeling around the rear of the radio
(that doesn't sound quite right does it), I must have disconnected
something, because now the outside temp reads 48 (when is was closer to
38 this morning, never changes and the outside temp indicator light
blinks on and off slowly for a few minutes when I first start the car.
Any ideas of exactly where I should start looking? Bentley is on the
way, so until then I'm flying pretty blind.
Thanks for any input

Likely the connection to the climate control head is loose (remove the
passenger footwell carpeted side panel for easy access). Try disconnecting it
and reconnecting properly (snaps in rather firmly). Once you get your
Bentley, it has extensive troubleshooting using codes displayed through the
climate control head (blinking outside temp light indicates it sees a
fault...). I haven't added the codes to my site, as they are a large section
in Bentley; I can help you out, though, via email if the reconnection doesn't
work.
Oh, and I'll add that I like the climate control; seldom have to adjust it,
and only had one problem in 36k miles (poor electrical connection; 10-minute
free fix). Don't even mind it's appearance...
