"Short Take" review in latest Car and Driver.  In a nutshell: 
"Compared with any similarly priced sport-utility vehicle, the Avant 
is lighter, more nimble, more stylish, and more versatile.  It's 
arguably better built and roomier than most SUVs, too.  Listen, the 
SUV thing is passe now, okay?  So go look at the A6 Avant instead. 
 Who knows?  You might start a new trend."  Anyone desiring additional 
details, just holler.
