RE: Used Pressure Accumulator and German Parts vendors
I just bought a new accumulator for an 88 5kcstq from The Parts Connection
(TPC)
for $245 including shipping. They also carry Pentosin at a good price,
$7.95/liter. They were responsive and seem to know what they're talking
about.
Don't have their phone number with me; might be listed on the vendor portion
of
Dan's homepage: http://coimbra.ans.net/quattro.html
No affiliation etc.

Subject: Used Pressure Accumulator and German Parts vendors
I need a pressure accumulator for my 1989 Audi 100 soon. The part number is
443-612-061H. Is it safe to get a used one or is it likely to leak like my
present one? The best price on a new one that I have found so far is $250.
Anyone have any experience buying Audi parts directly from German Vendors?
Send me a phone number or E-mail address for any reliable one that you know
about. Thanks.

Don;
Your best bet is to buy a new one. A functional pressure accumulator
(AKA bomb) is critical to the safe operation of your car, especially if you
have ABS. A used one is likely to be partially or completely discharged -
you might get lucky the first time, or you might have to go through several
to find an acceptable one. IMHO, it's worth the extra cost to know the bomb
is good and the brakes (or ABS) won't let me down when I need it - but then
the ABS saved my a$$ in a rock cut on black ice while avoiding 9 other bent
and broken cars which didn't have ABS, so I really appreciate it!
