Phil...
Your Audi dealer prices look worse than my local one (MAG), which I
calculate is charging list price plus 20%

I bought a thermostat for a 91 200TQ at an out-of-town dealer and the
price, including O-ring was slightly under $30 (87 degrees C, p/n 069 121 113)

First I tried the NAPA dealer and they handed me an 80 degree C thermostat.
I told them it was not the correct part...I wanted 87 degreeC. The guy
insisted it >was< the correct part, gesturing toward the book. I said no
thanks. Never did ask the price of it.
