Re: Carwashes [WAS: RE: Help me! Advice needed. Close to buying a S6 ]



Maybe keywords here are "quality car wash" and "typical home hand wash".

I would NEVER take my car though a "cloth" wash.  When living in Green
Bay, WI, I used a touchless wash (PQ) all the time in the winter for
my 911 - too cold for hand washes.  I now live in Chicago, but
surprisingly I don't see any good touchless washes here.  I like the
touchless wash especially to get the bottom of the car clean, but it
certainly didn't clean the car as well as a good handwash.

As far as a home wash goes, I use lots of water (2-3 buckets w/car
shampoo), I don't "scrub", and I rinse the very thick cotton mitten
I'm using again and again.   Yes - you can still scratch the surface,
but there is no way it can be as bad as those atomated cloth washes
(ergh...)
