Huw, I have been happy with a product called "Stongard". This
company is local to Seattle, and utilizes a 3M adhesive plastic about
1/16" thick, which has good optical clarity. Have had it on my H4/H1
4KQ for several months now, clarity/scratch resistance is good -
and no cracked lenses. FWIW, with a little research local to your
area, you can locate bulk 3M product, cut it and apply it yourself. I
started to do this, was not happy with the installation (small air
bubbles), then let Stongard do it. Their installation had small bubbles
also, which I was then told would dissipate. For the most part, they
have. If you are doing the standard 4 x 6 H4's it would be an easy
install. Only tools required: utility knife, and a 2-3" wide Bondo
applicator. Start on one end, and smoooth out to the other. Much
cleaner than plastic covers. HTH
