500
stops for a sec. goes up another 500 etc. If i floor the car it goes away and
accelerates normally, could this be the throttle switch not having a good mid
position? Any thoughts would be helpful.

Andrew,
the surging that you describe is common to the v8. Earlier this year there was
considerable discussion on the list about this. Check out the archives. I had
the same problem. Most common suggested fix is the O2 sensor. However my
dealer insisted that the o2 on my car was ok. They could have done the work
but refused! (But they did charge me to check it) They insisted that it was
the fuel. I wagered a lunch that it was more than that but agreed to try mobil
(I was using amoco) premium for several trankfuls. After about 5 tanks the
surging dissapeared. I owe them lunch. Try Mobil if you can get it. It's
cheaper than an o2!
