WG spring/no computer mod?

My brother picked up a very nice 87 5ktq this summer, and having driven
my modded 200tq, would like to improve his car.  However, his buget is
pretty limited.  Next spring I will be doing a brake job with good pads,
ss lines, ATE PowerDisc rotors, and SuperBlue fluid.  He might put some
springs/shocks in if he can find the $.

What I am wondering is, can I put a stiffer WG spring in without a
modded computer?  I think the awnser is yes, because I believe it has
been done.  There should be a way to get a spring to increase max boost
from 1.4 to 1.6 bar, I suspect the same spring as used in chip+spring
1.8 bar setups would have this effect.

1.6 bar is still low enough so that the stock computer doesn't do
anything silly like shut down the fuel pump, right?

Any good source for one of these springs?
Install directions?
