No. At least when you advance it. My car started from half-a-turn and
idled steadily @ 800rpm.

Similar to aftermarket adjustable cam sprockets for VW. Supposedly when
you advance the _VALVE_ (_NOT_ the distributor) timing by a few degrees
(~4°) the engine breathes better.
Our early MC-1 engines have 8° per tooth, so I guess one tooth is too
much an advancement.
