Yes. As soon as you see the differential lock light come on, indicating
that the diff in question is locked, you should see the ABS OFF light
come on. When you turn the switch off, ABS OFF should blink and then go
away, once all diff lock lights are off.
The reason for this is that ABS cannot work properly with locked
differentials. Torsen differentials, as found on later type 44's, don't
have this problem.

Have you done the brake bomb test? Slave cylinder shouldn't be related
(AFAIK)--certainly not if you're not losing brake fluid (not pentosin
but the regular stuff), which is used by the clutch hydraulics as well.
